Excerpt: In January 1978, a group of biomedical journal editors met in Vancouver, British Columbia, and established a set of standards to be followed by authors submitting manuscripts to their journals. It was agreed that the manuscripts that followed these standards would not be rejected on grounds of style, thus saving authors countless hours of frustration and rewrite when submitting to a second journal after being rejected by the first. However, the standards would not dictate the publication style of the individual journals. The group later evolved into the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
Following this same pattern, a group of editors of chiropractic journals met during the Foundation of Chiropractic Education Research meeting in May 1989 (4) and the first meeting of the Chiropractic Research Journal Editors Council (CRJEC) was held May 6-10, 1990 in Washington, D.C.
