Abstract/Notes

Phyto-Cannabinoid derivatives have long been considered unnecessary exogenous chemicals utilized primarily for recreational purposes. However, recent clinical evidence lends support to the understanding that phyto-cannabinoids may offer broad therapeutic value by affecting a new found biological system.  This is a review of the current understanding of the endocannadinoid system (ECS), with descripton of prototypical ligands and receptors and a discussion of the role of the ECS in neurotransmission and hormone balance.
