Abstract/Notes

The Moire controversy centers primarily on the eagerness of a minority of practitioners to use Moire Contourography prematurely in practice despite the absence of controlled validity studies which could make its use justifiable. The article describes the type of effort needed to provide 'validation' of Moire Contourography. Some contrasting interests and viewpoints of researchers, practitioners and regulatory agencies are presented under the heading of politics of Moire validation. A case history illustrating several of the issues is outlined. Moire Contourography needs more sober, dedicated effort directed at goals which are well reasoned and better understood.
