Although there are conflicting reports regarding the diagnostic role and potential of thermography in clinical practice, there exists sufficient evidence of promise to warrant further comprehensive studies employing reliable standardized methodologies and procedures. In this study the reliability of standardized procedures utilizing a specially designed infrared detector was tested under dynamic conditions. Reliability coefficients ranged from 0.940 to 0.995; p< .001. Dynamic thermography permits a much broader spectrum of screening and monitoring possibilities than does static thermography. The potential of the reliable methods developed for dynamic thermography to be integrated into a system of noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic methodologies is explored; the significance of a total system for diagnosis and treatment of a variety of anomalies is presented.
