An interfaced microcomputer-thermister device was developed by which real-time paraspinal skin surface temperature differentials may be measured simultaneously at 58 points (29 bilateral levels) for the purpose of establishing the basis and possible parameters for the present-day chiropractic use of such findings as they may relate to the chiropractic subluxation complex. It was found that such a device may be constructed from relatively low cost state-of-the-art circuitry and computer components, was simple and efficient to use, and was accurate to 0.1 degrees C. It was concluded that this system provides an effective and reliable means for monitoring temperature changes that may occur following chiropractic spinal adjustments.
