Abstract/Notes

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a complex neurological disorder that impedes integration and processing of the five senses, vestibular system, and/or proprioception.1 The original theory of Sensory Integration Dysfunction, by occupational therapist and psychologist A. Jean Ayres, is that deficits in processing sensory information from the body and the environment lead to sensorimotor and learning problems in children.
