Objective: To chronicle the resolution of plagiocephaly in a 4-month old male with concomitant decreased cervical range of motion and vertebral subluxations.
Clinical Features: A 4-month old male presented with right posterior plagiocephaly and limited cervical range of motion. The infant had decreased left lateral flexion and rotation, as well as subluxations at C1 and sacrum.
Intervention & Outcomes: Modified Diversified technique was utilized to address vertebral subluxation findings. The initial care plan was 2 visits per week for 3 weeks. Improved upper cervical range of motion was observed immediately. The patient experienced resolution of deformational plagiocephaly and concomitant symptoms following chiropractic care for vertebral subluxations.
Conclusion: This case study supports the effectiveness of chiropractic care for infants presenting with plagiocephaly. Additional research is necessary to further assess the outcomes of chiropractic intervention in patients with similar presentations.
