Abstract/Notes

Nutritional supplements, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, herbs, and flavonoids, are among the most safe and valuable substances for prevention and treatment of serious acute and chronic diseases associated with morbidity and mortality. It is important to take optimal doses for their full benefits. Due to their ability to prevent deficiency diseases at low doses, they have developed a reputation for being necessary only at these low doses. As a result, many physicians ignore or refute the value of much higher doses than are useful for therapeutic purposes and proactive-preventive medicine.
