The use of a computer data base system of the storage of problem-oriented clinical chiropractic information is described and preliminary demographc, clinical, and utilization data presented.   In the present sample of 1986 patients admitted to the Northwestern Chiropractic Clincs during a 12-month period, 56.2% were female and 43.8% male with mean ages of 32.3 and 32.5 years, respectively.  Of all patients, 61.6% were between 21 and 35 years of age.  Low back pain was the most frequent primary complaint among men and women, and a traumatic mode-of-onset was identified in 38.7% of low back pain histories.  The mean number of clinic visits for all patients was 6.6 and 81.9% of patients in the sample were seen between one and 10 times.  These data are examined and suggestions for future epidemiological investigations presented.
