Abstract/Notes Americans are becoming increasingy more overweight and obses every year. Obesity, as defined by the World Health Orgazniation, is someone who has a body mass index greater than or equal to 30kg/m2. From 1971 to 2006, the prevalence of obesity increased from 11.9 percent to 33.4 percent in men and increased from 16.6 percent to 36.5 percent in women.
