Abstract/Notes McFague examines articles in popular publications that have evaluated chiropractic and osteopathy in an attempt to analyze the changing reputations or "images" of these two drugless modes of healing, and then considers how images of these two differ and intersect with the legitimacy and cultural authority of the two disciplines. He follows and updates the analysis of J.S. Moore's Chiropractic in America (1993) as a way to understand longitudinal historical changes.
