Abstract/Notes

The patient had an acute onset of symptoms consistent with ulcerative colitis (UC) at the age of ten. Stool cultures ruled out parasites and colonoscopy showed left sided ulcers in the descending colon, sigmoid and rectum. Pathology report indicated the consistence with UC. Flare-ups included symptoms such as bloody diarrhea, generalized belly pain, weight loss and fatigue. Lab tests showed IgG and allergies to everything that was being eaten, indicating leaky gut. Stool testing showed lack of lactobacillus. Organic Acids testing showed imbalance in flora and possible candida. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet was initiated and improvements were seen immediately.
