Abstract/Notes There is a growing interest in the improvement of health. Individuals often engage in some sort of exercise program as well as modifications of diet to reach that goal. One aspect that is often encountered is the issue of dietary supplementation. People are often misguided or confused about what is necessary for their particular goals. One particular dietary supplement that has become popular is protein and amino acid supplements. This is especially so in the athletic community, both competitive athletes and weekend warriors. The purpose oi this paper is to examine the research as to the most effective method of increasing muscle protein synthesis through consumption of protein and amino acid supplementation along with resistance training.
