Abstract/Notes The clinical components of the nutritionally-oriented initial patient office evaluation include appropriate health history interview, physical examination and instrumentation, and lab work. Reference lab testing may include appropriate blood chemistry and hematology profiles, and point-of-care, in-office testing including CLIA-waived 10 SG reagent strip dipstick urinalysis. This paper focuses on when to include available point-of-care CLIA-waived microalbuminurea urinalysis screening with the nutritional evaluation of a new office patient. Clinical considerations for microalbuminura screening of non-diabetic, hypertensive adult patients will be reviewed.
