Abstract/Notes Excerpt: This text was written as a complete handbook for the examination of the shoulder for all health professionals involved in examining and diagnosing shoulder conditions. The stated objectives are to provide a practical guide to examination methods and how to best use them clinically; to evaluate critically how shoulders are currently examined and how to improve the quality of examinations; and, finally, to introduce new concepts based on a review of the literature, discussions with experts, and the author's personal observations. It comes with a DVD demonstrating how to perform the examinations and provides examples of what abnormal test results will look like. The text is clearly laid out and illustrations are used effectively to demonstrate concepts, to show how test procedures are conducted, and to present abnormal findings. Tables are also used to summarize research findings on specific topics.
