Abstract/Notes

The last two decades have witnessed profound changes in what is considered appropriate subject matter for historians. Political and military history have been supplanted by such disciplines as social and urban history. More recently, science and technology have come under the historical microscope. Medical history, which has long been studied by a devoted corps of physician-historians, has suddenly become an important cornerstone of the new scientific history. Consequently, the time would seem ripe for a historical probing into other health sciences, particularly chiropractic.
