Abstract/Notes Bilateral leg weakness accompanied by distal paraesthesiae, upper abdominal pains, and positive Babinski and Oppenheimer signs suggests the presence of serious pathology. Upper motor neurone deficits are typically associated with space occupying lesions within the central nervous system; compression of the spinal cord or infection in the dural-meningeal system or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This case reports a patient whose objective neurological and orthopaedic signs remained a diagnostic mystery, yet fully resolved after incidental treatment for Helicobacter pylori infection.
